This summer, Recycle Away, a recycling container supplier in Brattleboro, Vermont, will provide hundreds of new recycling containers to parks throughout the United States through a new grant program lead by Dr. Pepper Snapple Group and Keep America Beautiful.

In its first year, the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group/KAB Park Recycling Bin Grant Program is designed to provide recycling in a variety of park settings from neighborhood parks with playgrounds or athletic fields to regional parks with trails and natural settings.

In total, 33 grants are being awarded to local and state governments in 23 states. The grants will provide 710 durable, permanent recycling bins for placement in a variety of park settings.

Recycle Away worked collaboratively with Keep America Beautiful to design two different custom recycling containers to provide park visitors with attractive and convenient opportunities to recycle beverage containers.

Recycle Away is providing steel recycling bins and plastic lumber recycling containers. Both recycling bins were manufactured in traditional recycle blue to clearly identify them as recycling containers. Each recycle bin incorporates best practices in public space recycling through the use of clear labeling for bottles and cans and 5” diameter restricted openings.

Recycle Away’s graphics department worked closely with Keep America Beautiful to customize each bin with partner logos, as well as a QR code that enables the public to scan the codes to map the location of each recycling bin.

“Recycle Away is honored to supply recycling containers to the new and innovative Dr. Pepper Snapple Group/KAB Park Recycling Bin Grant Program,” says Michael Alexander, president of Recycle Away. “These unique recycling bins will be placed at high-profile locations in parks throughout the country.”

Alexander adds, “[Our companies] were selected by Dr. Pepper Snapple Group and Keep America Beautiful as the supplier for these containers based on our unique capability to provide custom branded recycling containers with clear graphics and restricted openings that adhere to best practices for public space recycling.”
